Okay, here's a valuable piece of data. I casn install 1.1.18. It does NOT give that message.

I would seriously doubt it. AShampoo is a pretty respect software house. https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd

They're German, so maybe that's why you've never heard of them.

Everything else is working. And I use it to install and uninstall most everything. Have for years.

No, I had earlier versions. Then this version wouldn't install, so I uninstalled them (using Ashampoo Uninstaller 6, which explains why there's nothing left) but still go this silly error message.

Okay, so I checked and neither of the two directories you mention were present. The install program is only one level deep from the root, so I don't think that's it. The command line option won't work, as that command appears to only work on .msi installers, not .exe. At least it didn't run for me ...

Running Windows 10, 64bit, latest update but no betas.

I have a LOT running in the background, but this issue has never come up until the I uninstalled the old version to install the latest.

I have tried running as administrator, with the same effect. My antivirus is MalwareBytes Premium, and I have disabled it as well.
